Alan Hunt was born in England, studying zoology at Leeds College and Bristol University. His artist training came from Middlebrough Art College. This background of scientific and artistic skills causes Hunt to call himself "the zoologist who paints wildlife."
He has worked with animals in the wild and in captivity - in parks, zoos and reserves. Indeed.......
I have always had a great passion for wildlife even from the age of five I was writing and illustrating my first set of animal books, usually creating the character's from plastercine and scraps of fabric. Later at the age of seven I adopted my first pet rabbit, which opened the floodgates for an ever-growing menagerie of birds and animals including my beloved dog Loopy whom has been the inspiration (and very patient model) for many years of paintings and picture books......
David Shepherd's early career was, to quote his own words, 'a series of disasters.' After failing to be a game warden in Africa, he turned to his second choice, painting - and was promptly turned down as 'not worth training' by the first art school that he tried to enter. They said he had 'no talent'. David owes all his subsequent success to the man who trained him.......
I was born in Birmingham in 1970, the middle son of three children and from a very early age and throughout my school years I loved to draw and paint. After studying at Bourneville College of Art I turned my hand to many creative occupations including portraiture, landscape gardening, graphic designer and as an illustrator.......
