Alister Colley is a Degree graduate of the Leeds Metropolitan University, he studied Art and Design specialising in film studies. It was whilst creating film storyboards that he developed a passion for illustration. Exploring new mediums to use for illustrating Alister tried his hand at oil painting and was immediately taken by the discipline. “ I enjoyed painting so much! I wanted to try as many new mediums in paint as possible and with each new paint type came new properties that dictated their own entirely unique application to the canvas. It was like listening to a new genre of music and it just pushed me to individual rhythms and styles and encouraged me to an entirely different places.” In 2004 Alister launched his illustration business ‘Zeitgeist Illustrations’ enjoying immediate success. “I am passionate about illustrating, but by far the most enjoyable aspect of my business is covering a blank canvas. I love to paint and every new image is a snap shot of a whole world with a story taking place, how that story evolves or is interpreted is entirely down to the viewer”
